New Tripod!

I recently got a Manfrotto 190XB 3 Section Aluminum Tripod with a Manfrotto 128RC Micro Fluid Head.  This tripod is amazing!  It is solid and well-built. My last tripod was a cheap amateur tripod that wobbled a lot.  One of the knobs recently broke so I decided to splurge for a good tripod. A good tripod is necessary for steady long exposure shots.  So far, I’m very satisfied with this tripod.  Manfrotto tripods are highly respected in the photography field and now I see why.  This tripod is not wobbly at all.  All the joints are rigid when locked and liquid smooth when not.

The head is also great! It has a nice handle and the resistance is nicely adjustable.  Just a small twist to the tightening knob is all it takes to drastically alter the resistance.  According to how it handles and the reviews I read, this head also makes it great for video. I highly recommend one or both of these products.

Blue Sky Sculpture

I believe this thing is called the Blue Sky Sculpture and it is located in Kansas. It’s made up of concrete and tiles, but overall not that impressive. We took a lot of goofy pics around this thing because we were bored.

This Cargill plant was located right across the river from the Gateway Arch. The setting sun made for a beautiful HDR. Enjoy!

The Arch Itself

Here is an HDR of the Gateway Arch itself. You can make this thing look like all sorts of things depending on the angle of capture. Take a look at the set on Flickr to see what I mean.

Miniature Illusion

Doesn’t this look like you’re looking at a miniature?  I actually took this from the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis!  Through thick glass!

Wheel Shadow

This was taken at the same museum. This is more play on light and shadow. I think it looks pretty nice here.
