I was playing around with Lightroom filters and this one seemed to fit the scene. Filters like this antique b&w filter can really turn a boring picture into a more interesting one.

Here are some good links for tips about composition (probably the most important aspect of photography!).
http://photoinf.com/General/KODAK/guidelines_for_better_photographic_composition_introduction.html
(link to guidelines simplicity, rule of 3rds, lines, balance, framing, mergers)

Note on Cropping: train your eye to shoot the way you want the final product to look. “Oh, I’ll crop it later” is not cool, visually crop your photos or else you won’t improve your composition.

I find that I like Samsung products more than any other brand. If they made good DSLRs I might have to switch… Samsung products I use: 2 LCD TVs, Blu-Ray player, surround sound system, LCD monitor.

Sorry folks. I’m a grad student now and the work is hitting me hard. I’ll still try to get in a picture every now and then. Enjoy this shot I took on an MTA train in NYC.

Check out these monstrous things that used to roam the earth. I’m a big fan of the first Jurassic Park…

You may remember this piece of art on the University of Houston campus. If you look closer you can see letters within letters because of the layers. Enjoy!
